gilbertdisplays

There was a trade fair coming up and my company had put me in charge of representing the company at the fair. I was searching for innovative and effective techniques to attract attention to our stall and that is when I came across this site www.gilbertdisplays.com. This is a great site which offers excellent quality trade show exhibits. The products from gilbert displays were an instant hit and was significant in luring customers to our stall in the trade fair.

While looking through this site for information about display exhibits, I also came across the fact that they are also providing services to beautify offices and work places with their amazingly creative and stylish wood works. The architectural wood work have earned a lot of appreciation in our office, when I decided to get them to place them in our office lobby and in our hang out lounge.

The site offers a lot of opportunities and exposes you to various innovative ideas and methods of adding beauty to your office and also to improve your customer attractions in times of exhibitions and trade fairs. shopwiki

Hello to new Mommy and Daddy
Here is a good site to visit, because everything is about baby's stuff . Yes. It is ShopWiki, a place where you can find various Babies and Toddlers products with reasonable price.
Why, I have recommended this site to you? Well, because Shopwiki is not only provide you with baby product but also complete with the guideline of why you should have best quality of baby stuff.
When you're visiting the site, and need more information about the detail of baby stuff, you can browse to the Babies and Toddlers Resource Guide
Moreover, I will give you one of the guideline related to Baby Carriers product that I have read from Shopwiki.com
Here is things that you should consider before you decide to buy a baby carrier:

Try before you buy. Be sure to place the baby in the carrier when testing the product.Verify that you have the right kind of carrier for your baby's age and size. Infants and newborns need proper head and neck support in any carrier.Find a carrier with a removable, washable fabric. If others will be using the carrier, make sure it is adjustable.
Get a carrier that you can load your baby into and out of easily on your own. The backpacks are the trickiest to get the hang of, so make sure you get plenty of practice! When your child hits 40 pounds, graduate to a stroller.

Recently there are three types of baby carriers that available for you, they are: Sling Baby Carriers, front Baby Carriers, and Backpack Baby Carriers.
One of my favorite product is Messenger Diaper Bags, sling over one shoulder and across chest.
The reason is that it looks simple and seems that we can put many things inside it.
Well happy parents, I hope the above information will help and enjoy your happy shopping

One of them offered by DentalPlans.com.It has been around since 1999 and now leading in the industry.Whether an individual, family or a group of people, they offer comprehensive dental discount plans. Dont be confused because DentalPlans.com is not a health insurance but provide discounts at certain health care providers for medical services.Dental plans has a big edge because it offers lots of benefit to every plan holder compared to dental insurance.

MAILBOXES

Owning your house is definitely an advantage because you can do whatever you want as you pleased. If you need to install something like mailboxes no need to ask permission to the management because you are the boss.
Anyway, recently I was thinking that I could add some mailboxes outside my house by the entrance door. There is actually an old mailbox outhere which owned by the previous owner. I don't really like it so I guess it's ok to replace it. Besides it's mine now and I can do whatever I want with it.

I'm thinking of getting mailbox or the locking mailbox. It would look good on my wall outside. It will definitely add beauty to the entrance door. The Seattleluxe.com is based in the States but I can order it since I'm in Canada. They have huge selections of Curbside Mailboxes, Wall-Mounted Mailboxes, Copper, Brass, and Copper-and-Brass Mailboxes, Locking Mailboxes and many more.By the way commercial mailboxes are also available. I think their products are very affordable and guarantee for low price. That means if you see the same products online they will beat the price for 5%. Isn't that great? Well, order yours now and beautify your home with all the decorative stuff.

crush or flush????

Are you the kind of person, who likes to make new friends. Are you on a look out for a better social networking site ??? Then i feel , i just have the solution for you .There are the traditional ways, such as match.com or american singles (if you can think of online dating as "traditional!") Then there is virtual dating, where you assume a character and meet people in an online chat room.

I wish this type of technology had been available when I was younger. It would be fun to describe yourself with funky, wild words, more outrageous the better to attact my soul mate. At my age, if I were to use funk language to describe myself, I think it would be a definite turn off. But it would still be fun to use this technology to meet people who are attractive to me.but it is never too late , atleast tha whati think!!!

Women, men, and teenagers who do not have loveones are waiting for such a service. How about those who does have lovers? Well take this as h=jus another opportunity tomeet new people.Well the what are you waiting for ... hurry make hay while the sun shines!!!! lol!!!

Haunted from the grave

An old man and woman were married for years even though they hated each other. When they had a confrontation, screams and yelling could be heard deep into the night. A constant statement was heard by the neighbors who feared the man the most.

"When I die I will dig my way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life!"

They believed he practiced black magic and was responsible for missing cats and dogs, and strange sounds at all hours. He was feared and enjoyed the respect it garnished.

He died abruptly under strange circumstances and the funeral had a closed casket. After the burial, the wife went straight to the local bar and began to party as if there was no tomorrow.

The gaiety of her actions were becoming extreme while her neighbors approached in a group to ask these questions: Are you not afraid? Concerned? Worried? That this man who practiced black magic and stated when he died he would dig his way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life?

The wife put down her drink and said, "Let the jerk dig. I had him buried upside down."

camel back dispaly

Each year, outdoor trade shows become more and more common. Why be cooped up in a crowded exhibit hall when you could be enjoying a warm, sunny day? Outdoor trade shows are usually set in beautiful locations with stable and predictable climates, which allows exhibitors to prepare for the weather in advance. More and more trade shows are moving outdoors, and these trade shows are statistically more profitable for exhibitors and attendees than indoor trade shows.

Exhibiting at outdoor trade shows can create interesting challenges. Wind, sunlight, rain, and even humidity can cause problems for traditional trade show displays, but the outdoor trade show displays we sell at MODdisplays are guaranteed to hold up in all types of inclement weather. Our outdoor banner stands are printed on durable fabric that will not fade in the harsh sunlight. Even in rainy, windy conditions, our outdoor banner stands will remain firmly planted in the ground if properly installed.

Most exhibitors at outdoor trade shows use trade show trade show displays. These tent displays allow you to clearly define your exhibiting space, and the fact that we offer truss allows you to further enhance your marketing campaign by highlighting your company brand. Walls can be added on the sides of the tent, which allows your exhibiting space to be as private or as public as you need it to be.

Across the board, one of the big trends in the trade show industry is banner stands. Understanding how these environments work can allow your company to use them to your advantage. Outdoor trade shows are catching on because they are simply more fun than indoor trade shows. Exhibitors feel more relaxed and comfortable, which helps to create a business-friendly environment. Aside from the travel expenses that you’re likely to incur moving your booth staffers and exhibit material to a sunny, warm location, there really is no downside to outdoor trade shows.

confession??? can't hear it..

At one local church, Joe was in charge of taking up the offerings. One Sunday after the services, the priest counted the cash and found it was smaller than anticipated. So he questioned Joe. He told him that it did not seem enough for the size of the congregation. Joe said that he did not take any of the offering. The priest again questioned him and again he said that he did not take any of the offering.
So the priest said "get in
the confessional" which Joe did.
Then the priest asked him did you take
any of the offering and this time
he said "I can't hear you".
Again the
priest asked "Joe did you take any of the offering?"
Again Joe answered "I can't hear you".
This time the priest yelled "JOE DID YOU TAKE ANY OF THE OFFERING"
Again Joe answered "I can't hear you".
By this time the priest was getting a little angry so he came out of the confessional and saId "Joe trade places with me and you can ask me a question."
So they traded places and Joe asked " I hear that you and my wife are having an affair, is that true??
To which the priest answered "By Golly you can't hear in here".

Vunies High Dies

The sister of late heavyweight champion Joe Louis died of exposure in the snow after wandering out of a retirement complex in a Detroit suburb.

Vunies High, 92, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, was dressed only in pajamas when she was found dead Monday morning, The Detroit News reported Wednesday. Lt. Nick Loussia of the Southfield Police said that High was last seen at about 8 p.m. Sunday, 14 hours earlier, and that employees at The Heatherwood had been looking for her when they discovered she was not in her room.

An autopsy determined the cause of death to be hypothermia.

recognizeanyone.com

Exploring sites and blogs that i have not visited has always been a routine for me . I start by clicking one of my favorite blogs and click a random link to someone else’s site. Each week I am amazed at some of the sites I find.

This week, I visited Recognize Anyone. The site is a social experiment to see how small the world really is. I love it. The site simply shows a random photo from a random place on a random day.

I think it would be cool if they posted more photos from random people from random places around the world. Of course I don’t Recognize Anyone in that photo, but then again the odds that I would are very slim. The guy in the blue hat looks like a friend of mine from 20 years ago, but he has a lot more gray hair than that now. Ha!

Do spend some time and help this social networking website , grow more popular

SUPERSTAR - THE INSIDE STORY

NO.., before you even think that, i'll tell you its not true. the word "super" is not mutually exclusive to Rajnikanth films, and it did not originate from the many famous dialogues, one of which is quoted below.

rajnikanth-
( flooring the villian after a lightning, "feet without touching the ground" fight) owwiseet?
his long suffering sidekick- sooper(or souper)

why are actors and actresses called stars? maybe because, in the times when they used to wear striped bellbottoms, pointy collared silkshirts and puff sleeved blouses -all in shiny red, bright yellow and bubbly pink that literally blinded the awestruck fans, who were so impressed by the brilliace emanating from theirluminously clad idols, that they started calling them stars.

i think the word "super" has an unmistakebly indian quality anout it. we indians love to pepper our conversations with laudatory exaggerations, and super is the loudest of all laudatory exaggerations. it can be used as a noun, adverb, adjective, verb, anything. only in india can we see superfast express trains, supergood films, superosuper(its a tamil word), supersubburayan(a stunt man) and ofcourse, superstars.(if anyone brings up superman and superdog, i'll get superpissed).

but coming back to the title of the article, i dont know, really. but if anybodyelse knows the origin of the word superstar, please comment here.

split hair over this- what is the exact definition of stargazer?
if the sun is a star, is the sun tv a star tv?
is the shooting star a gunweilding filmstar?
is amitabh bacchan the northstar?
mgr was the peepal's star.
rajnikanth is thaleeva star.
outdated joke- the only star clinton never gazes at- kenneth starr.

Fruit of the Clouds

Andrea picked up this great one from the cellestial tea pack insert:
"Between true friends even water drunk together is sweet enough"
I like it...not just because it is a zimbabwean proverb, but also because it is aligned with one of my other little clinton-isms as my family called them 'fruit of the clouds' - that's my term for umoya, amanzi, panee, aqua, agua, eau, wasser, 水, H2O, water!

When in the company of spanish speakers (including filipino) I will often refer to it as agua pura, from the mexican potable water campaign in the mid 1970's

Where Is The Chinese Alphabet?

oes the Chinese language have an alphabet?

If so, where is it? Why don’t I see it?

Each month thousands of people search for the "Chinese alphabet" on the internet.

To answer the above questions, let’s look at how the Chinese writing system evolved…

Societies create their own symbols.

As societies change so do the meaning of their symbols.

In most societies, as a culture took shape and a written language of letters was developed, symbols – which were once the primary means of communication, were replaced by words or phrases.

The evolution of the Chinese language took a rather unique turn.

Instead of visual symbols being replaced by a written language of letters, the symbols themselves became the written language.

One of the reasons for this is that the Chinese language is tonal – the tone of voice used to speak a syllable alters its meaning.

In Mandarin for instance, there are four tones.

The same utterance in each tone gives four different meanings.

In addition, words in the same tones often have different meanings and their meanings can only be made clear by the context of the sentence.

This unique feature of the Chinese language gives rise to rebuses or “visual puns”.

The interplay of phonetics and puns often reveal the hidden meanings of Chinese symbols.

Phonetics and puns often give clues to the hidden meaning of images.

Hence a picture of a fish is an expression of abundance because the Chinese word for "fish" yu2 鱼 has the same sound as "abundance" yu2 余 .

This is a “visual pun” or what’s known as a rebus.

Now it’s easy to see why there is no such thing as a “full Chinese alphabet” or “Chinese alphabet letters”.

Or why the Chinese alphabet is “missing”.

An alphabet consists of a small number of letters (e.g. 26 in English) which make up all the words in the spoken language.

There aren't any letters in Chinese writing -- only thousands of individual symbols or ideographs each with their specific sound/s and meanings.

The Chinese language is an “ideographic writing system”.

Since there are no letters in Chinese it naturally follows there is no Chinese alphabet.

There, mystery solved!

meet the robinsons- my movie review

I've mentioned this many times, but first it's important to remember that I'm biased. I don't think there's an animated Disney film that I've given less than a 10 out of 10. Heck, I give a large percentage of their live action fare a 10 out of 10, and almost never give any of their films lower than a 7 out of 10. I don't do this just because they're Disney and I'm issuing a vote to keep me in an extended, fantastical childhood (I need no assistance in maintaining an element of that, thank you); I do it because I really enjoy their work that much.

It's easy to see how many people might not care for Meet the Robinsons. It has far more in common stylistically with recent Disney films like Chicken Little (2005) and Lilo & Stitch (2002) than it does with the "classic" Disney films (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Cinderella (1950), etc.), or even their "second golden age" (The Lion King (1994), Beauty and the Beast (1991), etc.)--although it's worthwhile to note that some characteristics are not that far removed from Alice in Wonderland (1951) or even Pinocchio (1940), and you'll find things reminiscent of many other films--from Toy Story (1995) to Robots (2005) to Looney Tunes cartoons. It has an unusual, surrealistic flow, and it often seems like there's nowhere the animators won't go for a bit of weirdness.

But especially this latter fact is part of the charm to me. Meet the Robinsons may be adapted from the gorgeously drawn children's book, William Joyce's A Day with Wilbur Robinson (1993), but it seems just as inspired by Edward Lear's "Nonsense" books, which were some of my first favorites as a kid.

Visually, Meet the Robinsons is just as beautiful as Joyce's work. And beneath all the wonderfully frantic surrealism, which is loaded with quick, funny pop culture references, there's a great message here about creativity, experimentation, mindful experience and the necessity and acceptance of failure and rejection.

GRADUATION

I believed I was full
For so many years.
This “fullness” was accompanied by others
Independence and self sufficiency
I survived all along – starving.
You poured and filled the rest
Into a space filled with vacuum
Which I never knew existed.
I looked back and noticed the drains
Which you carefully plugged.
As you never tagged any,
I contend shamefully
I never had a reason to say
I never noticed.
I take a long silent pride in admitting in whispers
Which I believe will reach only your ears
That I always subconsciously
Leaned on your strong shoulders.
Now sitting in a corner
Of this lonely strange planet
With a few inert objects as companions
I think aloud to myself
Because perfect communication
Is a visible obstacle here.
You graduate to become my best half.
I pray you hear this too
My dear.

Pirates Of Silicon Valley

A few days back,Dr.Eric Schmidt, Google's CEO was elected as a member of the Apple board of directors. The Apple board has some prominent figures like Al Gore and Google's board has members like Paul Ottelini - Intel's CEO. The nomination of Eric has sparked off a flurry of speculations amongst analysts. All the speculations are hinting at one baseline, 'redmond rivalry'. In essence a move to get a stronghold of the markets dominated by microsoft.
Take a look at how Apple is striking at the market, their new intel based macs have the capability of running windows with the bootcamp software. Bootcamp will become a standard in leopard, the next version of OS X slated for launch in spring 2007. When Apple says spring 2007, it will be spring 2007 and nothing else. By giving consumers the 'choice' between Windows and Mac on the same platform, Apple will entice the users to the benefits of Mac and thereby potentially sideline windows/vista as the defacto operating system. So the doors have opened for apple to gain a foothold of the lucrative pc Operating system segment.
Another potential speculation is an Apple-Sun merger. The apple-sun merger has been on the cards since decades and both companies have shared and traded a lot of talent. Both the companies have an almost common product line except the low end servers made by sun. While Sun has been picking up stake in the unix server segment, thanks to Andy's brainwork, Apple has been picking up stake in the PC/laptop segment. A merger could provide sun with one of the best marketing and design teams while it would give Apple access to the lucrative server market where it can push the X-serve line of products. With Eric on the board, there won't be much of a future CEO conflict between Jobs and Schwartz.
Analysts are also speculating googling apple or in other words, bring in google's ideologies into some of apple's software products - potentially in the music segment. With Universal launching a free music download service, iTunes will have to go the same route with the revenues served only by ads and what better company to provide the ad framework than google?. Universal has several potential pitfalls - the songs cannot be burnt on cds and they wont play on iPods ( which account for 80% of digital music player sales ). Apple has the potential to offer free music downloads with revenues from ads/google adsense and keeping everything else same.
All in all, its quite interesting to watch how the three dominant valley companies collaborate in bringing better services and products to people and directly or indirectly affecting the redmond behemoth.

hunt is on

I'd been sufficiently content up until december but i fear it is time to move on now, so put myself out there. the burn bean company called me and now i have to speak to them again.may be interesting.

why the hunt you ask? well when you have to deal with hyper critical micro managing megalomaniacs who think that everyone is driven by dollars and have no domestic life, it is time to move on. 8 leadership changes in 18 months is more than i can handle.

i sleep with my phone - how sad is that.

One of the numerous sops to the media for Gowariker's forthcoming period opus Jodhaa Akbar (rejected tagline: when doves cried) casts a shadow of doubt on the nature of the intended audience of the film and the presence of brain cells in the marketing/PR department; it also offers quiet assurance that Bollywood has a long way to go before it acquires a new approach to movie marketing. I have shown my body in Jodhaa Akbar too screams the headline for a collection of responses from the film's star Hrithik Roshan in response to a bunch of questions that came from the WeThinkWeRCool department:

poor photograph of the cover of the January 2008 issue of Wired from ebay.com
A glances at the three issues of Wired on the desk as he carries on a discussion with B. B sees the interest in A's eyes and also the screaming words advertising the title story ("100 mpg! the race to build the ultimate fuel-efficient car") and starts talking about supergreen cars and A has to tell B that it wasn't the title story but the line above the title that caught his eye: "radiohead and the new world of music by david byrne." B doesn't register Radiohead, he only registers the word music. A enthusiastically tells B why he thinks the line is cool: David Byrne was the frontman of Talking Heads and Radiohead got its name from a track on the Talking Heads album True Stories. A feels the enthusiasm drain away as he registers B's reaction. They return to their discussion, wrap it up and A returns to his desk with the issue, hoping to read the article in a spare moment.

EXCERPT FROM NEPALESE INTERVIEW

"We are starting a party because the king has ordered us."TSHERING TOBGAY, a former civil servant in Bhutan.

Funny? No. I met a few people from Bhutan and to say the least they are happy. Not ecstatic. Just happy. They need less. They are happy with what they have. They are less ambitious. They trust their rulers. Happy.

People like me (and most of you), living in one of the fastest growing economies, where ambition and drive and initiative and having an unlimited set of desires coupled with the 'right attitude', will never want less and will never be satisfied with anything. We live by a baldies word who said, "Only paranoid survive".

So we love to live unfulfilled, just gives us another avenue to crib. Happy? Never.

May be we should have a sabbatical in Bhutan.

TRAFFIC

* utopian vision meghna actress: Gulzar, Kothari or Naidu? The first has no known desire to face the camera, the second has aces like Prem Aggan and Vadh in her kitty and the third bounced about the screen in lipidinous levity featuring in Classic Dance Of Love and promised to break new ground with sleaze master Karan Razdan's Shock (sadly not much has been heard of this film since). I fail to see the utopian angle.

Micro sites

When I was just fifteen years old I went to California with my brother, two cousins, and a family friend to visit my uncle. It was quite the experience for a young teenager. But now I want to go back. I am getting old and I would love to look into a mommy make over. Mine are rather small and a bit saggy from age and having children. Just imagine how much better I would feel about myself then! I could wear low cut tops again. From what I understand about it there isn’t too much pain afterwards. The recovery period is only a few days to a week. I could take a week’s vacation and no one would really know!

Or maybe I could get a southern california tummy tuck (known as abdominoplasty) that seems to be all the rage these days. I can’t decide between that or southern california liposuction. I think I’d rather have the tummy tuck. I’m not terribly overweight. The recovery time for this is ten to fourteen days. A bit longer than the breast augmentation.

Now, here is something great! They can combine the two for a Mommy Makeover! I would LOVE that. I would love to get my body close to looking like it did before I had children. It has been nearly thirteen years since I had my last child and I am not regaining anything at this point.

I remember visiting Beverly hill cosmetic surgeonwhile we were there. I saw so many beautiful people while we walked around. I used to think it was superficial, but now I understand it. Back then I was petite and in shape. Now, not so much. You don’t really do it for other people; you do it to make yourself feel better about you.

lipo, tt, breast aug

There were nearly 11.5 million surgical and nonsurgical procedures performed in the United States, as reported by the American Plastic Surgery Society. Surgical procedures accounted for nearly 19% of the total with nonsurgical procedures making up 81% of the total.

From 2004-2005, there was a decrease of 4 percent in the total number of cosmetic procedures. Surgical procedures showed an increase of 1% with nonsurgical procedures falling by 4 percent. This is bucking the previous trend of increasing nonsurgical treatments, as is seen in liposuction

Since 1997 there has been an increase of 444 percent in the total number of cosmetic procedures. Surgical procedures have increased by 119 percent, nonsurgical procedures by 726 percent.

The top five surgical procedures cosmetic procedures in 2007 were:

Liposuction with 455,489 procedures performed, down five percent from last year. Interestingly, 21% of these procedures were ultrasound-assisted Lipoplasty (UAL)

Breast Augmentation with 364,610 procedures up nine percent from 2004. For the first time, we categorized saline vs. silicone augmentation. 83.4 percent of respondents used the saline device, 16.6 percent the silicone implant. This might change for breast augmentation since the FDA has approved silicone implants.

Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery) came in third with 231,467 procedures down 20 percent from 2006

Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is the forth most common procedure with 200,924 procedures performed, an increase of 21 percent over 2006

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) reported 169,314 procedures, up 12 percent from 2006.

crafting the perfect pitch

Braving the inclement weather in the morning (I do not do this even for the most important of my college lectures, preferring to amble into the lecture hall only after noon), I managed to reach Elphinstone College well on time. The trains were empty on account of the weekend, and minus the effort that one needs to exercise in the daunting crowds of Bombay locals, the faces of commuters looked sadly careworn and unoccupied.

Held in Elphinstone’s Seminar Hall 1, Kavitha Rao’s workshop was quite a success - in addition to the twenty people already registered for the event, there were others who dropped by and had to be accommodated. (It would have been better however if all of them had showed up on time and not trickled in one by one throughout the duration of the workshop.)

A quick note on Kavitha Rao: I came across her website while researching for an article on the internet. She has a most impressive profile as a freelance journalist, as is evident from her website. She has lived and worked in London, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Tokyo, and reported from Cairo, Be

Wenger: I Tried To Sign Ronaldo Before United

Speaking to BBC Sport, the Gunners manager revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo might have been a Gunners player today, had things gone a little differently.

"He was here much earlier - he could tell you that if he wants," he began, referring to the young Portuguese star's move to United in 2003.

"Manchester United had a partnership with Sporting Lisbon when United assistant coach Carlos Queiroz moved and that made it very difficult."

However, Wenger would not give away any more about Ronaldo's time with Arsenal.

"I don't want to create any story that isn't needed," he huffed.

While Arsenal's youth system is renowed across the world, it appears that United's club links outdid it on this occasion.

revelation

Contradictions : In life so far, I have got along well with people, whose views mostly match with mine. Be it friendship, love, work, studies or whatever. I always stayed away from people who had contradictory views because I am not good at arguing and debating. I always thought it was the best way to lead ones life and even till date I continue in the same manner. Today I had a discussion with one of my friends which prompted me to revisit the thought.
My friend's perspective : If u get to converse with a person with a conflicting view, u get to understand the subject from the other person's perspective. Bingo ! I never thought about that ... in an argument I would always try to prove my point and never understand the other person's perspective. Its a different learning experience though, but I guess u need some understanding with the other person. Stjll thinking about it..

open source yuppie!!!!

The first big Open Source sell off is finally going to happen, I'm sure a lot of VC's and business gurus are watching this development with mixed reactions. How can a company that has it's code out there in the open still make profits and be valued so high? The genius is in the details as always, this company specializes in high end consulting and solutions. http://www.mysql.com/news-and-events/sun-to-acquire-mysql.htmlSUN is all set to take over MySQL for (hold your breath) $1 billion, the largest price till date in the open source industry. As one of the early bunch of guys who began to deploy MySQL to customers because they didn't have to pay for it, I can vouch for it's stability. MySQL has also evolved over the years starting from being a simple database solution to getting into the more intricate areas and in it's current form can directly take the fight to ORACLE and most importantly Microsoft's SQL Server.

SAP & Business Objects

With SAP acquiring Business objects and Oracle already purchased Hyperion. It is becoming evident that these "would be" BPM vendors need the BI to be an integral part of the BPM space.

We all know that the cycle of of BPM needs analytics. BAM will be helpful in the analyzing the real time events and actions taken, but still a large part of historical & real time data analysis lies with in the purview of the BI tools.

Or are these guys leading us to a corollary of sorts here?
ERP = open data but locked process.
BPM = open processes but locked data.

The Aristotle who resembles Pope John Paul II

When I first heard about the name 'Lyceum', I googled the name and found out that The Lyceum is the name of the garden where Aristotle taught his students. What he taught I do not know for now, but he taught something to his students at The Lyceum. Would it puzzle you if I said I go to The Lyceum? It will. It must. This place is not a garden in the least, but it sure does have an Aristotle teaching his students. Not philosophy, not theology, but English. As someone wisely pointed out, it's easy to learn English but difficult to master it.

Why need an Aristotle to teach English? As Thomas L Friedman might point out in his next book Globalization 4.0-Save English from 4.0, someone please save English from the clutches of Globalization!

Amidst all this, I was wondering why he (the Aristotle who teaches English) called his learning centre The Lyceum. It then struck me that he wanted his students to rise to the extent of being worthy of possessing the title "Le Equale Aristotle's bes studente". (At this point, I would like to confess that I do NOT know French. Any offence to anyone who appreciates French is purely unintentional and incidental.) The French phrase roughly translates to "on par with Aristotle's best student".

Legend has it that it requires great courage to stop studying during study holidays and sit to write a blog on The Aristotle who resembles Pope John Paul II. With my spine facing the brunt of it all, I take upon the risk of petrifying my inner self by sitting like an immobile inanimate object with just my fingers swiftly surfing over the keyboard, and not paying heed to spinal cries, which are drowned by the escalating urge to write a few lines of eulogizing prose about this Aristotle.

Why would he resemble Pope John Paul II? The Pope was bald, and so is he. The Pope headed Christianity and so does he (within the context of all discussions that take place in my presence at The Lyceum). The Pope knew his grammar (in Latin), so does he in English. But the most compelling reason is the striking similarity in their facial features that makes an observant person (like me) believe that they must have been brothers in their previous births.
Have you seen the Pope smile? I see his smile 4 days a week at The Lyceum!. If you could imagine facial reconstruction, then you'd see my point.

Many astrologers have told me that I have a little more divinity and a moiety of ESP than the chaps around me.;) I know it sounds slightly wierd but I sure can ratify that since many of my dreams feature a great person walk the talk with me. That way, I've met many a luminous personality. It was last June when I met Pope John Paul II ( in my dream you moron!). That's when he told me that I'd see someone who'd resemble him. I incidentally got chided by him for having asked who would succeed him!. Eventually we've got the new Pope, but that was just incidental. So coming back to these similarities, their deportment, their charm, and their reverence match a great deal that I ain't need nothin to believe that they come from similar blood. But then, what happens to Aristotle? I mean the real Aristotle?

Many do not know about Aristotle or Pope John Paul II. The Lyceum would suffice to brush up your history and learn a great deal that'd make you a different person.

If you decide to find your way to The Lyceum, just ask a few people around your vicinity for Mr. James' classes at The Lyceum. That's how Aristotle calls himself now. Don't know what's gotten into his head, but he prefers James to Aristotle. Maybe Aristotle sounds a little antediluvian

The recent 'calm' after the delhi blasts have clearly sent a messsage to the terrorists that whatever be ther motive, communal harmony will not be disturbed. Inspite of the BJP accusing the government, backlashing, calling a bundh etc , people in the holy city are back to normalcy and are not disturbed to pay visits to almighty.
On the other hand, what has been done to bring those terrorists to the courts ? Whoever carried out the Delhi blasts were classified as belonging to a certain group 'LeT' and thats it. The same happened with IISc shootings. People are resilient, yes but not bringing the terrorists to justice shows that people dont really value their lives. Is it the fact that there are a billion people out there that we are not concerned if 20 or 30 of us were killed ? In Isreal a bomb blasts and results in 2 deaths, rockets will be fired all over gaza. Its a different matter that firing rockets has not resolved the problem but it clearly sends a message that Isreal values its citizens.
The real reason or the urge to kill innocent civilians is not understood by me. Be it political, monetary or religious, the fact that common people who are no way concerned with any of these apsects are killed hurts. If killing is the mandate of terrorists, there are a handful of politicians out there.

google vs ebay

It's bieng rumored that Google plans to offer a database service where one can store and search whatever they want for free. What is google targeting now - its ebay. More details on this article. Theres a lengthy discussion on slashdot. What google is trying to do , how they'll manage to stop people from using the database for illegal materials etc etc.
So far there is no confirmation from google regarding this service but it will be interesting to watch their announcement. Yahoo must be planning something similar.

I also noticed that google has launched www.google.org as their philanthrophic arm. Theres not much information on the site other than some funds and donations made to Africa.

truck accidents

Truck accidents have been a common sight now a days.i was unfortunate to have seen one off late. It was a hit and run situation. After the driver hit our car, he drove away from us but I was persistent and followed him. We called the police while we're still following him. After few kilometers, the driver stopped and came out from his truck and was trying to settle things. That's the time when we smelled his breath and learned that he was drunk as hell. We can smell liquor all over his breath, he could not even speak clearly. When he noticed that we're on the phone, he was so uneasy, walking back and fort his truck door. Oh my! I was so scared that he'll get a gun and shoot us. We we're in rural area and it's 7 o'clock in the evening, we don't have some weapons to at least protect ourselves. Then he decided to jump back on his truck and drive off again. We lost him, too late for us to run back to our car and follow him. Few minutes later, policemen and ambulance came to check us. Thanks that we only have some minor bruises but our car bumper was really damaged. Big time! We got his car tag though and have reported the case to the court house. We learned that the driver have a lot of drunk driving cases and he's license during that time was suspended, and he was to be caught, he's heading straight to jail. Maybe that's the reason why he drove away. Got scared to be locked up. So, good thing was, Tom and I were physically safe, bad thing was, that drunk driver do not have car insurance to help us fix our car wreck.

Ronaldo better than the Best????????????

Comparisons with George Best are inevitable as the 23-goal United star continues to shine

Towards the end of 2005 I was one of three writers asked to select Manchester United’s 50 greatest postwar footballers for a book. The hardest task was judging current players, especially those whose careers were young. Cristiano Ronaldo caused the greatest headache. Caution led us to put him at number 39, one place below Arthur Albiston, two above Andy Cole. Overhyping is the worst sin of modern pundits but to underplay can be criminal too.

There are Ronaldo-sceptics even now but, quicker than the Dow Jones Index, their numbers are falling. Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s numbers keep stacking up. With 23 goals in 26 appearances, and at least 18 United fixtures remaining, he seems likely to beat the 32 goals scored by George Best in 1967-68, a record for a United winger or midfielder in a season. It remains premature, but no longer feels odious, to bracket the pair. At the very least we must be reaching the point where, if Best were around and his boots needed lacing, there might be someone fit for the job.

There have been other “new George Bests” but Ronaldo is different. “He’s the first to come on the scene and make me think, ‘By God, this kid’s got everything, maybe he does compare to George’,” Paddy Crerand said. Crerand was Best’s close friend as well as teammate and needs nobody to tell him the Irishman was unique. But hearing Ronaldo mentioned in the same breath does not leave him gasping. “They’ve got great similarities: beat people easily, great with either foot, George was good in the air and so is Cristiano and you’re talking a pair of good-looking so-and-sos,” Crerand said. “Most of all, he has the same impudent streak George had. I’ve seen a lot of football but I get a thrill on my way to the stadium if I know Cristiano’s playing.”

Ronaldo, England’s Footballer of the Year for 2007, league champion, FA Cup winner, global icon, is all that before his 23rd birthday, which arrives on Tuesday week. When precocity is the measure he can hardly be bettered, yet Best was best, European Footballer of the Year, European Cup winner, double league champion, icon twice over, all as he was turning 22. His strike-rate was slightly better than Ronaldo’s goal every three games and in 1967-68 it accelerated as the games increased in importance. He scored in a European Cup semi-final against Real Madrid and conjured a magical solo effort in extra time in the final with Benfica to tip glory in United’s direction.

Compared with that, Ronaldo’s little triumphs in Europe, such as his two goals in last year’s demolition of Roma, are forgettable and while Best was inspired by a rivalry with Eusebio, Kaka, who beat Ronaldo to European and World Footballer of the Year in 2007, dwarfed the Portuguese on the two occasions they went head to head in Champions League knockout ties. Ronaldo’s record on the most important domestic occasions is also sketchy, as three goals in 26 appearances against Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal attests. “George starred in the big games, they inspired him. The bigger the stage the better he played,” said Crerand. “He hasn’t always shown that, but Cristiano will get there.”

His two performances against England in major finals show it is in him to make big gestures on the big stage and in the 2006 World Cup semi-finals, while the rest of the Portugal team capitulated, he launched what amounted to a one-man crusade against France. “He demonstrates character every week,” said Crerand. “In the Premier League he gets booed and abused away from home and George never got that, away fans loved watching George. Sadly, it’s the way football’s going.”

Sir Alex Ferguson is always talking about Ronaldo’s mettle, his contention being that it takes the greatest courage in football to keep demanding the ball and taking players on because of the high risks of failure and physical harm. Bravery was the most hallowed value Sir Matt Busby ascribed to Best. “I don’t think the diving thing’s true of Cristiano any more,” said Crerand, “he takes a lot of knocks. But George played on rubbish pitches against people who could boot him all afternoon – in my day you had to shoot someone to get sent off. We’d come in on Sunday mornings for a bath or a rubdown and George’s legs would be black and blue, but it never bothered him. What would he have done to teams today, playing on bowling-green surfaces with defenders who are hardly allowed to tackle?”

The similarities are there in the back-stories. Best ran home to Belfast when overwhelmed by Manchester during his first trial with United aged 15. Ronaldo, when even younger, made his own journey from a small island community to a mainland, leaving Madeira for Sporting Lisbon’s academy, where he suffered homesickness. Their families had little money, the football they learnt was on the street; later they would embrace glamour: Ronaldo is partners with his sisters in a fashion boutique (CR7) in Funchal, just as Best dabbled with a menswear emporium in Sale at the height of his fame. After Busby first set eyes on Best, “the vision of this black-haired lad kept coming back to me”, he said. Ferguson knew Ronaldo from the scouting reports, but was bedazzled by his first proper encounter, telling Peter Kenyon at half-time of a friendly against Sporting in 2003: “We’re not leaving the stadium until we get the boy.”

On Friday, in his weekly briefing, Ferguson waxed lyrical about his protege until questions started going in the direction of Best’s record and the comparisons. “I hope he can do it. But that’s enough on Ronaldo,” Ferguson growled. For once he is happy to see one of his players ignoring a job description he set out for them. Did Ferguson imagine Ronaldo had such scoring powers? “No. We saw his potential as a winger, his ability to drive at defenders. That was the main reason we took him on. And he still plays as a winger for us. He gives us width and is a threat from there,” he said. “He’s an improving player, his decision-making is good and getting better. He practises all the time. The boy’s a finisher.

“He’s a good header, has two good feet, is quick, brave. He has all those assets great strikers have always had. He scored a header this season from a corner kick and he hung in the air, so at corner kicks we’re hoping he’ll be a threat, and from crosses from the opposite side of the pitch, because he’s got that great leap, great power. “The rest (of Ronaldo’s goals) is a combination. His third goal against Newcastle came from fantastic team passing and movement, the first-time passing, and he has that great ability to run beyond people on to the through pass anda good shot, a strong shot. The kind of kid he is, he has always had the hunger to play. He loves the game.”

Of course you can fall out of love with football. Best did so by his mid20s but by then had scored more than 20 goals in a season for United in five consecutive campaigns. His beating of defenders was founded on extraordinary control and ability to make sudden changes of direction, while Ronaldo’s is more about using theatre to distract his foes, but the flank is not big enough for either of their talents which is what draws and drew them central, in search of goals.

Best appreciated United’s latest No 7. “There have been a few players described as the ‘new George Best’ but this is the first time it has been a compliment to me,” he said. He was a better judge of ability than the authors of a certain list.

Ronaldo is good but Best is best

Cristiano Ronaldo’s exceptional form and soaring goalscoring rate are such that serious comparisons are now being made between the Portuguese winger and George Best, the greatest of all his forerunners in the Manchester United No 7 jersey. With at least 18 games remaining for United, Ronaldo, on 23 goals already, stands a good chance of beating Best’s 1967-68 tally of 32 goals, the most scored in a season by a United winger or midfielder. A comparison of their achievements at similar ages shows Best remains out on his own, but Ronaldo may be catching up

Big-game Best Ronaldo has yet to emulate Best’s record in big games. When Manchester United won the European Cup in 1968, Best scored in the semifinal against Real Madrid and the final against Benfica. He had already defined his iconic status with two goals and a virtuoso performance in the away leg of a European Cup quarterfinal, against Benfica in 1965-66. Ronaldo has yet to show his best form in big club games

Best in history George Best’s total of 32 goals in a season was extraordinary for a winger at any club, but especially at Manchester United where there is a tradition of spreading the goals around. His total is better than some of the greatest strikers in United’s history ever managed and stands comparison with all but Denis Law and Ruud van Nistelrooy

Best ever scoring season, selected United players

Denis Law 46 goals (1963-64) Ruud van Nistelrooy 44 (2002-3) Tommy Taylor 34 (1956-57) Dennis Viollet 32 (1959-60) George Best 32 (1967-68) Brian McClair 31 (1987-88) Jack Rowley 30 (1948-49 & 1951-52) Bobby Charlton 29 (1958-59) Dwight Yorke 29 (1998-99) Eric Cantona 25 (1993-94) Cristiano Ronaldo 23 (2006-7, 2007-8)
